At Hornbeam we encourage as many children as possible to take up this offer as we believe our school meals are nutritious and tasty. All our meals are freshly prepared to a high standard every day.

Benefits of receiving free school meals

In Kent, 21% of children receive free school meals. If you are eligible and register your child will get:

  • a choice of delicious, healthy hot meals every school day at no cost - this is worth £470 a year per child and recognised to improve behaviour and learning
  • meals to cater for cultural, dietary, and religious requirements
  • the chance to develop social skills by sitting with friends for a school meal
  • a £10 food voucher per eligible child each week during the school holidays.

The school will receive additional funding to cover the catering cost and school funding grants, such as the Pupil Premium, based on their take up of free school meals.

Parents of children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 may be able to claim a free school meal for their child if they meet certain criteria. To check your eligibility please follow the link below and enter your details. The school will receive notification on the same day. If you believe your family is entitled to Free School Meals or your circumstances change please check your entitlement by following the hyperlink below. Important notice to all parents

If your child is eligible for Free School Meals, the school will also receive additional funding through the Pupil Premium.
